BIODATA –

Franklin Oluwarotimi Oyekusibe is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife where he bagged BA Fine Arts (Ed) degree with a concentration in Painting in 1989. Oyekusibe’s career straddles Publishing, Journalism and Advertising. He worked as a Designer and Illustrator with Heinemann Publishers, Ibadan. He was the pioneering Editor of the CartoonWeek Magazine, Lagos, and also worked as Senior Artist and Cartoonist for TELL Newsmagazine in the 1990s. It was at TELL that the artist created his multiple award-winning Graffiti cartoon column. He received the NMMA Commendation Award and the DAME Media Excellence Award, twice for Graffiti, going on to receive the NMMA Winning Award in 2020 for his Cartoon under another magazine column – Guffaw.

Oyekusibe also holds a Diploma in Advertising from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos. This enabled him to transition into the Advertising sector in 1998 when he joined TaijoWonukabe Marketing Communications. He rose to the position of Associate Creative Director before leaving in 2007 to start PicturesQue Studios, his own Creative Consultancy company.

Oyekusibe is an avid painter, and has participated in many exhibitions.
