délé jẹ́gẹ́dẹ́ has over five decades of experience as artist, art historian, painter, cartoonist, art critic, curator, and art administrator. After a first-class honors degree in art from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria, he obtained his master’s and doctorate degrees in art history at Indiana University, Bloomington, USA, where he studied with Roy Sieber.

He was Art Editor and cartoonist at the Daily Times before moving to the University of Lagos in 1977, where he rose to become Director of the Center for Cultural Studies. Among notable professional milestones, he was Fulbright Scholar at Spelman College, Atlanta; Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Smithsonian Institution; President, Society of Nigerian Artists; President, Arts Council of the African Studies Association (ACASA); and Chair of Art Departments in the two universities where he worked: Indiana State University, Terre Haute, and Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.

Dr. délé jẹ́gẹ́dẹ́ is Professor Emeritus of Miami University and Principal at délé jẹ́gẹ́dẹ́ Studios.
